What is Google Search Generative Experience? What is this elusive icon my google page?

Google Search Generative Experience (SGE) is an experimental version of Google’s search engine that uses artificial intelligence to generate contextual answers to complex questions. SGE is a new set of search features that incorporate results powered by generative AI into responses from Google’s search engine queries.

You can sign up for SGE by tapping the labs icon in the latest version of the Google app or at labs.google.com. Once you’re in, you can open the Google app or head to google.com, click the labs icon, and turn on SGE.

SGE can help you understand a topic faster, uncover new viewpoints and insights, and get things done more easily.

The speed at which Google comes up is especially impressive. Next I tried the same with Bing Copilot and this generated the following:

In Conslusion

Google Search Generative Experience is an amazing technology. As for the ‘feel’ of the answers, Google seems like a middle ground between Microsoft Bing and Chat-GPT. Bing being the most natural response and Chat-GPT the most clinical.
